Four more countries – Cyprus, Switzerland, Monaco, and Panama – have joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children abducted by Russia. This brings the total number of member states in the coalition to 49.
This information was reported by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, citing a correspondent from «European Pravda». Anand stated that the Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children plays a crucial role in drawing international attention to an issue Russia wants the world to forget. She emphasized that the increase in coalition members signifies a growing global rejection of Russia's actions in abducting, indoctrinating, and refusing to return Ukrainian children to their families.
It is worth recalling that on May 11, the United Kingdom announced a new package of sanctions against Russia specifically for the abduction of Ukrainian children. On the same day, the EU Council imposed sanctions against individuals and entities responsible for abducting children from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. These announcements were made during a high-level meeting in Brussels on May 11, jointly organized by the European Union, Ukraine, and Canada, aimed at developing concrete steps for the return of children abducted by Russia and holding the Russian Federation accountable. Additionally, Lithuania has pledged over 10 million euros to support initiatives related to the return of abducted children, their psychological and medical rehabilitation, strengthening the guardianship system, and ensuring accountability for these crimes.
