RTÉ to Spend €855,000 on Consultants for Toy Show Appeal Fund Distribution

RTÉ will spend an estimated €855,000 over five years on consultants to manage the distribution of funds from its Late Late Toy Show appeal. Since 2020, the appeal has raised over €26 million for more than 500 charities, with 96.7% disbursed to frontline children's charities. The tender closes June 8th, with a contract award expected July 2nd.

RTÉ plans to spend an estimated €855,000 over five years on consultants to manage the distribution of funds from its annual Late Late Toy Show appeal. A tender published on Monday seeks a firm with charity and community sector knowledge to provide «philanthropy consultancy and grant distribution services» for the appeal's funds.

The tender specifies that the cost of grant distribution will be deducted from the fund. Since its inception in 2020, the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal has raised over €26 million from public donations, distributing to more than 500 charities across Ireland, reaching an estimated 1.1 million children and family members annually. The 2025 appeal, following the December 5th show, raised €4.6 million, with over €3.5 million via Revolut.

RTÉ emphasizes the importance of public trust and value for money, noting that 96.7 per cent (€25.8 million) of appeal proceeds have been disbursed to charities, with only 3.3 per cent (€890,435) allocated to operating costs, which is below sector norms. The contract is for three years with an option for two more. The closing date for tenders is June 8th, with the contract expected to be awarded on July 2nd.
