Ukraine to Receive First €90 Billion EU Tranche No Earlier Than June 2026
Ukraine will receive the first tranche of the €90 billion EU loan no earlier than June 2026, contradicting earlier statements. The funds will include military and macro-financial aid, plus a Ukraine Facility tranche. Key documents are still being finalized.
Ukraine is set to receive the first tranche of the €90 billion EU loan no earlier than June 2026. This information refutes the statement made by EU Commissioner Marta Kos on May 11, which indicated a payment next week.
The initial disbursements will include €5.9 billion for military support and €3.2 billion in macro-financial assistance. The next tranche under the Ukraine Facility mechanism, amounting to €2.8 billion, which Ukraine will receive in exchange for legislation adopted in April 2026, is also expected in early June.
Currently, three documents essential for the disbursement of funds are being coordinated with Ukraine. These include the Loan Agreement for the full €90 billion, an addendum to it under the Ukraine Facility instrument, and a Memorandum of Understanding on macro-financial assistance, which sources indicate is in its final stages of agreement.
