Four Ukrainians will remain on the MV Hondius, where hantavirus was detected, until its arrival in the Netherlands. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated they will ensure the vessel's transit and then undergo quarantine. No signs of illness have been recorded among them yet.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced that four Ukrainian citizens will remain on board the MV Hondius vessel, where hantavirus symptoms were previously detected. They will stay as part of the crew to ensure the vessel's transit to the Netherlands. Upon arrival in the Netherlands, they are planned to be directed to a medical facility for quarantine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that Ukrainian consular officials are in contact with another Ukrainian who is scheduled to leave the vessel as part of a partial crew evacuation via a special flight to the Netherlands. Currently, no signs of illness have been recorded among Ukrainian citizens.
The cruise liner MV Hondius, where a hantavirus epidemic broke out, arrived at a port in Tenerife on the morning of May 10. Norway provided a specialized sanitary aircraft, equipped for transporting patients with high-risk infectious diseases, for the evacuation.
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu previously stated that one of the French citizens repatriated from the MV Hondius had shown symptoms of hantavirus.
