Sisk & Son, D/RES Properties Partner for 1,000 Social/Affordable Homes Annually

John Sisk & Son and D/RES Properties launched a €32 million venture to build 1,000 social and affordable homes annually in Ireland, starting with sales in Dublin this September. Oil prices surged due to US-Iran talks deadlock, while Huntoffice Technology expands to the UK, and Dublin taxi alternatives gain traction.

John Sisk & Son and D/RES Properties are forming a new venture with an initial €32 million funding to build 1,000 social and affordable homes annually in Ireland. They will begin selling affordable houses in September at their Foothills project in Killinarden, Dublin, which comprises 635 homes.

Oil prices rose significantly due to a deadlock in US-Iran talks, potentially closing the Strait of Hormuz. Brent oil futures increased 4.5 percent to $105.87 a barrel, and US crude gained 5 percent to $100.24 a barrel. Columnist John Fitzgerald suggests Ireland and the EU prepare for the Strait of Hormuz remaining closed for much of 2026.

Huntoffice Technology is expanding into the UK, with revenues projected to reach €25 million this year, driven by increased demand for office fit-out and design due to changing post-Covid work patterns. Additionally, Dublin-based taxi alternatives, Tap a Taxi and Hola Taxi, are recruiting drivers, spurred by rising commissions from major taxi app platforms and Uber's flat fare introduction.

Children’s book author Fiona Breheny shared her spending habits, noting a two-week luxury trip to Australia to visit relatives in Sydney as her most extravagant purchase.
