Susi Grants for 2026-2027: Eligibility and Increased Income Thresholds
Susi offers maintenance and fee grants for eligible undergraduate students in Ireland. Eligibility depends on nationality, residency, educational progression, and household income. For 2026-2027, the income threshold for the €500 student contribution grant increased to €120,000.
Susi (Student Universal Support Ireland) provides grants for further and higher education, including maintenance grants for living costs and fee grants for tuition and student contribution fees. These are available to eligible undergraduate students.
Eligibility criteria include nationality (Irish, EU, EEA, UK, Swiss, or specific immigration status), residency (three of the past five years in Ireland, EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland), and educational progression (attending a course at a higher qualification level than previously held, and progressing year-to-year).
Students must attend an approved course at an approved institution. Household income must fall below specified thresholds. For dependent students (under 23 on January 1st of first entry year, or over 23 but living with parents), parental income is included. For independent students (over 23 on January 1st of first entry year and living independently since October prior), only their income and that of a spouse/partner is considered.
Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year are assessed based on gross income from January 1st, 2025, to December 31st, 2025. Budget 2026 increased the income threshold for the €500 student contribution grant to €120,000 for eligible undergraduate students, with adjustments for dependent children and other household members in full-time education. Susi is now open for 2026-2027 applications via susi.ie.
