Since 2018, over 200,000 migrants have arrived in the UK via the English Channel on small boats. This figure reached 200,013 on May 8. In 2025, 41,000 arrivals were recorded, a 13% increase from 2024, but less than the record year of 2022.

Since 2018, when statistics began to be recorded, over 200,000 people have arrived in the United Kingdom on small boats via the English Channel. This milestone was reached on Friday, May 8, when the total number of new arrivals reached 200,013, as reported by Sky News.

In 2025, approximately 41,000 individuals were recorded crossing the English Channel on small boats, representing a 13% increase compared to 2024. However, this figure is lower than the record 46,000 migrants who arrived via this route in 2022.

The average number of people on a single small boat has consistently increased: from seven individuals in 2018 to 62 individuals in 2025. Recently, the United Kingdom and France concluded a new three-year agreement aimed at halting illegal crossings of the English Channel by small boats. For instance, on April 27, the French coast guard rescued over a hundred migrants from a boat that capsized during an attempted crossing.
