Irish Workers Report Understaffing, Lack of Growth, and Seek New Jobs

A survey by SD Worx and iVox shows nearly half of Irish workers feel understaffed, with two in five seeking new jobs due to poor management and lack of growth. Most employees desire learning but receive no training. Employers are urged to prioritize development to retain talent.

A new survey by SD Worx and iVox reveals that just under half of Irish workers believe their teams are understaffed, leading to concerns about burnout and managing workloads. Two in five employees are actively seeking new jobs, citing poor time management, misspent time in meetings, and a lack of growth opportunities.

The survey, which questioned 1,000 workers and 301 employers in the Republic, found that over a fifth of employees feel their talents are underutilized, and 44 per cent receive no training. Despite 73 per cent expressing eagerness to learn, 39 per cent are looking for new opportunities.

Eimear Byrne, MD of SD Worx Ireland, emphasized that employers must prioritize training and development to support teams and retain staff. The research also indicates that 13 per cent of employers are unsure which skills their organizations will need in the next two to three years.
