Zelenskyy: Ukrainian pilots will train on Gripen in Sweden this year
Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes that Ukrainian pilots will begin training on Swedish Gripen fighters this year. The President thanked Sweden for the program to strengthen the protection of the Ukrainian sky. The government expects the appearance of a Gripen plant in Ukraine in 2033.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that Ukrainian pilots will begin training on Swedish Gripen fighters this year. He stated this during a joint statement to the press with the King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf in Lviv, reports Ukrinform and European Pravda.
Zelenskyy thanked Sweden for the new program aimed at strengthening the protection of the Ukrainian sky and developing the future air fleet of Ukraine. "We very much hope, and we will talk about this today with His Majesty, that our pilots will start training, learning this year," the President emphasized.
The government of Ukraine expects that the Gripen manufacturer's plant will appear in Ukraine in 2033, and the deliveries of the aircraft themselves will take place "much earlier".
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the first Gripen aircraft could arrive in Ukraine as early as 2026.
