President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated about Russia's likely attempts to draw Belarus into the war against Ukraine. He announced this after a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, citing intelligence data. The information was published on the president's Telegram channel.
According to Zelenskyy, road construction towards Ukraine and the arrangement of artillery positions are being recorded in the border area of Belarus. He also noted that the occupying contingent is trying to regroup forces, probably in order to compensate for the shortage of personnel, which explains the increased activity of the armed forces on the territory of Belarus.
The head of state said that he had instructed through appropriate channels to warn the actual leadership of Belarus about Ukraine's readiness to defend its land and independence. He added that "the nature and consequences of recent events in Venezuela should restrain the leadership of Belarus from making mistakes".
Earlier, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa stated about Russia's desire to create a buffer zone in the Vinnytsia region from the side of unrecognized Transnistria. On February 23, Zelenskyy reported on the resumption of talks between Moscow and Minsk regarding joint military exercises on the territory of Belarus. On April 1, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, announced the country's preparation for war.
