Eurostat: Most Expensive Gas and Electricity for EU Consumers in Second Half of 2025
Eurostat analyzed energy prices in the EU during the second half of 2025. Electricity was most expensive in Poland, Czechia, and Romania, while gas was most expensive in Sweden, Portugal, and Italy. Hungary had the cheapest prices for both resources.
Eurostat published data from a comparative analysis of electricity and gas prices for household consumers in EU countries in the second half of 2025. The «purchasing power standard» (PPS) was used as a conventional unit for comparison.
The actual cost of electricity was highest in Poland, Czechia, and Romania. Electricity felt cheapest for Hungarians, Maltese, Dutch, and Finns. Among EU neighbors, lower prices were observed in Norway and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Gas was most expensive for consumers in Sweden, Portugal, and Italy, France, and the Netherlands. Among non-EU members, Kosovo had the highest prices. Gas was cheapest for Hungarians.
