Gardaí have arrested three men in connection with the attempted murder of Alexis Lee Campion, 44, who sustained severe, life-altering burns after being set on fire at her home in Clondalkin, Dublin, on November 25. The victim suffered extensive injuries to her face and body during the assault.
The incident, described by investigators as a horrific attack, occurred at approximately 10:10 AM when Ms. Campion answered her door at Oak Downs. An accelerant, believed to be petrol, was poured on her and ignited. Her family reports that she sustained severe burns to 35% of her body, necessitating multiple surgeries and several amputations. She remains hospitalized, undergoing treatment for the devastating and permanent damage inflicted.
This morning, three men, aged in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, were apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder. They are currently detained at garda stations in west Dublin under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, an anti-gang statute that permits custody for up to a week. These arrests are part of a broader investigation targeting organized crime gangs, drug dealing, and drug debt intimidation in south and west Dublin.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, Gardaí conducted searches at nine properties this morning, bringing the total number of searches to nearly 30. Three other men have already been charged in connection with the attack and are awaiting trial. Gardaí have also established a high-intensity policing operation, known as Operation Fógra, to support the criminal investigation and address organized crime, drug-related intimidation, and drug dealing. A family liaison officer has been appointed to the Campion family.
