Belgium will join the agreement on the Special Tribunal for Russian aggression, becoming the 24th country. The document aims to hold Russian leaders accountable. The agreement will be voted on May 14-15 in Chisinau.

Belgium intends to join the Expanded Partial Agreement on the Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. This was announced by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the X platform, as reported by «European Pravda».

Thus, Belgium will become the 24th country to officially declare its decision to join this agreement. The document provides for the creation of a tribunal authorized to hold Russian political and military leaders accountable for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, this agreement will be put to a vote during the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which will take place on May 14-15 in Chisinau. Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset recently noted that «important opportunities» will emerge next month to hold Russia accountable for its aggression against Ukraine. The Office of the President of Ukraine previously clarified the stages necessary for the full launch of the Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression.
