From April 17, 2026, the Living City Initiative will be expanded to five cities in Ireland: Drogheda, Dundalk, Athlone, Letterkenny and Sligo. Property owners located in the renovation areas of these cities will have the opportunity to receive tax benefits for carrying out repairs and converting vacant buildings.

The aim of expanding the program is to revitalize economic life in city centers and increase the housing stock by restoring old buildings.

The Living City Initiative will run until 2030. It was previously introduced in Dublin and Cork.
