Irish non-profit FoodCloud has redistributed 450 million meals of surplus food through its international network and aims to reach one billion meals by 2030. Established in 2013 by Iseult Ward and Aoibheann O’Brien, the organization fights food waste and insecurity by expanding its technology to new markets.

FoodCloud operates three hubs in Ireland, demonstrating surplus food redistribution through initiatives like the AIB Community Meals Programme and the Growers Project, which reduces farm-level waste. Currently, 540 food outlets donate to 685 charities and community groups. The platform has facilitated 7.5 million virtual redistribution donations.

Partnerships exist in Ireland, the UK, Europe (including the Czech Republic and Slovakia), and Africa (supporting food banks in Kenya). Food Bank Kenya uses FoodCloud’s platform to redistribute nearly 2.5 million meals annually. Ward noted that over 2.3 billion people globally struggle with food access, emphasizing FoodCloud's role as a «living lab» for scalable solutions. O’Brien highlighted the immediate impact of technology in transforming local food systems.
