Aer Lingus Orders 300 Hybrid Staff to Return to Office Four Days a Week

Aer Lingus is mandating 300 hybrid-working staff to return to the office four days a week. This decision, impacting various departments, raises concerns about staff well-being and increased commuting costs. The airline cites collaboration as the reason for the change.

Aer Lingus is requiring approximately 300 staff, currently on hybrid working arrangements, to return to the office four days a week. This change was informally communicated to Siptu industrial organiser Terry Gill, who confirmed it impacts staff in all departments previously availing of hybrid work.

The airline, which employs over 4,000 people, previously increased office attendance for these staff from two to three days a week about 18 months ago. The latest mandate affects Maintenance and Engineering administration staff and office staff at Shamrock House and Iolar House near Dublin Airport.

Gill expressed concerns about the lack of company engagement with staff regarding this change, citing potential negative impacts on mental health, productivity, and increased commuting costs (fuel, childcare, tolls). Affected staff feel «let down», especially due to fuel costs. Aer Lingus cited collaboration as the reason for the policy revision. A comment from Aer Lingus was not available at the time of publication.
