The Ukrainian government has submitted the necessary documents to the European Commission to receive €2.7 billion under the Ukraine Facility mechanism. Ukraine is eligible for this sum following the recent completion of a series of reforms. European Commission spokesperson Guillaume Mercier confirmed this information in Brussels on April 27.
«Regarding the 2.7 billion, I can confirm that Ukraine has indeed submitted its payment request. We are currently processing this request,» Mercier stated. He added that he could not yet provide a specific assessment of the request or the exact date when Ukraine might receive these funds.
Previously, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that Ukraine had implemented a series of reforms in recent weeks, enabling the European Union to allocate €2.7 billion to the Ukrainian budget. Overall, the European Union will disburse €16.7 billion in budgetary support to Ukraine this year from a €90 billion loan, half of which will arrive in three tranches via the macro-financial assistance instrument.
