LEEF Meets ICTU, Ibec on Cost of Living; Reidy Slams €500m Package

The Labour Employer Economic Forum (LEEF), chaired by the Taoiseach and attended by the Tánaiste and other ministers, will meet with ICTU and employer groups including Ibec to discuss the rising cost of living and its impact on workers. The meeting will cover energy security, affordability, broader economic developments, and outlook.

ICTU sought the meeting due to rising prices, particularly fuel costs. ICTU General Secretary Owen Reidy stated the €500m fuel package will be factored into upcoming pay negotiations, criticizing the government for rewarding disruption over good faith engagement.

ICTU President Phil Ní Sheaghdha has highlighted the impact of rising fuel costs on workers. The INMO has called on the HSE to pay the highest mileage rates for nurses and midwives.

SIPTU's NEC met and stated it would support members in pay talks, including industrial and strike action, to protect pay and living standards.
