McRedmond to Chair Dublin City Regeneration Authority; Funding Remains Unclear

David McRedmond will chair the new Dublin City Regeneration Authority, with Robert Watt as CEO. The authority aims to implement the Dublin City Taskforce’s revitalization plan, but securing the necessary €1 billion in funding remains uncertain.

David McRedmond, An Post chief executive, is set to be named chairman of the Dublin City Regeneration Authority, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) created to deliver the Dublin City Taskforce’s revitalization plan. Robert Watt will serve as chief executive of the SPV, with an annual salary of €280,000.

McRedmond previously chaired the taskforce from May 2024 to October 2024, which proposed «10 Big Moves» for the city center, focusing on O’Connell Street. He had called for €1 billion to be ring-fenced for the scheme in Budget 2026, which did not materialize. The status of Dublin City Council’s request for €114 million to seed the SPV also remains unclear, as highlighted by Dublin Central Labour Party TD Marie Sherlock.
