EU Pushes 21st Sanctions Package on Russia; Odesa Strikes Kill 2, Wound 14

The EU is pursuing a 21st sanctions package against Russia, reinforcing its commitment to Ukraine. Concurrently, Russian strikes in Odesa killed two and wounded 14, hitting residential and civilian infrastructure.

The European Union is pushing for a 21st package of sanctions against Russia, according to EU diplomat Kaja Kallas. This follows the adoption of the 20th sanctions package over Russia's war on Ukraine. Kallas stated this signals to Russia that the EU will continue supporting Ukraine, which is more important to them.

Separately, Russian strikes killed two people and wounded 14 in Odesa, Ukraine. Emergency services reported residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were attacked, including a three-story building and two two-story buildings destroyed. Sixteen residents were evacuated, and over 140 rescuers responded. This comes after recent Russian drone and missile barrages targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, including an earlier attack in Odesa this month that killed at least nine people.
