Glenveagh Probed Over EV Charging Points at 99 Dublin Homes
Fingal County Council is investigating developer Glenveagh for alleged breaches of EV charging point requirements at 99 new homes in Folkstown Park, Dublin. Residents report insufficient infrastructure, despite planning stipulations. Glenveagh states construction is ongoing, while the Council has issued a warning letter and continues its probe.
Fingal County Council has launched an enforcement process against developer Glenveagh regarding alleged breaches of planning laws for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at 99 new homes in Folkstown Park, Balbriggan, north Co Dublin.
Residents, some of whom purchased homes for up to €480,000 under the Affordable Homes Scheme, complain that many properties lack adequate EV charging points. Planning stipulations from An Coimisiún Pleanála required Glenveagh to install EV infrastructure at all car parking spaces, with a minimum of 20% having charging stations and the remainder having piping for future installation. A recent inspection by The Journal found approximately 30 spaces without EV infrastructure.
Glenveagh, a major developer with €926 million turnover last year, stated the development is still under construction and works are ongoing, including EV charging infrastructure. Fingal County Council has issued a warning letter, and investigations are continuing. Local TD Louise O’Reilly has called for solutions and resident engagement, emphasizing the importance of correct infrastructure for sustainability goals.
