Consumer Anticipates Modest Price Reduction on Coffee, Chips Despite €750M Annual Taxpayer Cost

A consumer expects a modest price drop on coffee and chips from July, due to a VAT adjustment. This change, however, will cost taxpayers €750 million annually. The consumer, Tim Bracken from Cork, notes the significant public expense.

As a consumer responsible for paying VAT to the accountable person, who subsequently remits it to Revenue, I anticipate a very modest price reduction on my morning coffee and evening bag of chips starting in July. This adjustment, however, comes at an annual cost of €750 million to the taxpayer.

I look forward to this change, despite the significant financial outlay it represents for the public purse.
