Karex, World's Largest Condom Maker, to Raise Prices 20-30% Amid Supply Chain Issues

Karex, the world's largest condom manufacturer, plans to raise prices by 20-30% due to increased costs and supply chain disruptions linked to the US-Israeli war on Iran. The Malaysian company, which produces 5 billion condoms annually, is experiencing heightened demand and shipping delays, impacting global stockpiles.

Karex, the world's largest condom manufacturer, announced plans to increase its prices by 20% to 30%. This decision stems from escalating costs and significant supply chain disruptions, which the company attributes to the US-Israeli war on Iran.

The Malaysian company produces 5 billion condoms annually, supplying major brands such as Durex and Trojan. CEO Goh Miah Kiat informed Reuters, «The situation is definitely very fragile, prices are expensive… We have no choice but to transfer the costs right now to the customers.»

Goh further explained that demand has surged as customers face low stockpiles due to rising freight costs and shipping delays. He noted, «We’re seeing a lot more condoms actually sitting on vessels that have not arrived at their destination but are highly required,» emphasizing that less wealthy countries are disproportionately affected by these issues.
