Iarnród Éireann Warns 20,000 Commuters of Major Disruption to Northside DART, Commuter, Enterprise Services

Iarnród Éireann has warned of major disruptions to northside DART, northern Commuter, and Enterprise services, potentially affecting 20,000 commuters. The issues stem from overhead line damage in Raheny, with repair work ongoing and no estimated reopening time available.

Iarnród Éireann has issued a warning to commuters regarding significant disruptions affecting northside DART, northern Commuter, and Enterprise services this morning. The company confirmed that DART services are suspended between Malahide and Howth to Clontarf Road, and northern Commuter services are halted from Howth Junction to Connolly.

For Enterprise train services to Belfast, a bus transfer service will operate from Connolly to Drogheda. Barry Kenny, Head of Corporate Communications for Iarnród Éireann, stated that up to 20,000 commuters could be affected by these service interruptions.

Mr. Kenny attributed the disruption to ongoing repair work following damage to overhead lines in the Raheny area. The incident occurred last night around 8:30 PM, affecting one line. Initially, a single line was utilized to transport concertgoers from Malahide Castle back into the city. Repair crews were unable to begin work until 1:30 AM, and operations are still in progress.

Iarnród Éireann is actively investigating the cause of the damage and is currently unable to provide an estimated time for the line's reopening.
