Luas Red Line Partially Suspended After Tram-Car Collision at Mayor Square

Luas Red Line services are partially suspended between Connolly and The Point due to a tram-car collision at Mayor Square in Dublin 1. Operator Transdev apologized, with Luas tickets accepted on Dublin Bus. This follows a fatal tram incident Monday.

Luas Red Line services have been partially suspended following an incident at Mayor Square in Dublin 1. The disruption stems from a collision between a tram and a car, according to reports from The Irish Times.

Transdev, the operator of Luas, issued a statement confirming that «there are currently no Red Line services operating between Connolly and The Point following an incident at Mayor Square.» The company extended its apologies for any inconvenience and announced that Luas tickets would be honored on Dublin Bus routes during the period of disruption. All Red Line trams are currently terminating and commencing at Connolly, with services operating normally elsewhere on the line.

An Garda Síochána has been contacted for further comment regarding the incident. This disruption follows a separate incident on Monday evening, when a man in his 70s sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a tram on Marlborough Street in the city centre.
