Drones Attacked Syzran Near Oil Refinery on April 22 Night

On the night of April 22, drones attacked Russian Syzran, specifically an area near an oil refinery. Local residents recorded UAV flights and explosions. The plant, which was damaged last year, is located 3 km from the incident site.

On the night of April 22, Russian Telegram channels reported a drone attack on the city of Syzran, located in Russia's Samara region. Specifically, the target of the attack was an area near an oil refinery.

Local residents of Syzran recorded videos of unmanned aerial vehicles flying over residential buildings. The footage also captured the sound of air defense systems in operation. In local public forums, eyewitnesses actively discussed the raid, describing the sounds of explosions.

OSINT analysis conducted by Astra confirmed that the videos were taken from «50 Let Oktyabrya» Avenue in Syzran, as a building at Zoryana Street, 50, appeared in the frame. According to Astra, the Syzran oil refinery is located just 3 kilometers from this geolocation.

According to industry sources, last year, oil processing at the Syzran plant was significantly below its design capacity, amounting to approximately 90,000 barrels per day, or 4.3 million metric tons. In 2023, the plant produced 800,000 tons of gasoline, 1.5 million tons of diesel fuel, and 700,000 tons of fuel oil. In early December last year, the Syzran refinery had already halted oil processing after being damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack.
