Andrii Sybiha Welcomes Kaja Kallas' Statement on EU Entry Ban for Russian War Participants

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed EU chief diplomat Kaja Kallas' statement on a potential EU entry ban for Russians fighting against Ukraine. Sybiha called it a «strong signal» and a «timely and long-awaited step», urging EU countries to support the initiative.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the statement by EU's chief diplomat Kaja Kallas regarding the intention to introduce an entry ban to the European Union for Russian citizens participating in the war against Ukraine.

In a post on platform X, Sybiha described Kallas' statement on the EU's readiness to impose an entry ban for Russian combatants as a «strong signal». He emphasized that this is a «timely and long-awaited step that will demonstrate to every Russian that by signing a contract to participate in the criminal aggressive war against Ukraine, they simultaneously sign their own entry ban to Europe». The Minister added that this is fair, as «if you fight to harm Europe and European states, you have no right to enter them», and urged all EU member states to support this extremely important measure.

It is worth noting that in February, Andrii Sybiha had already called for an EU entry ban for Russian citizens who fought against Ukraine. Kaja Kallas' statement was made during the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Tuesday, April 21, in Luxembourg, where she presented the «fourth pillar» of the European Union's future security guarantees for Ukraine, which ministers agreed to advance.
