Leitrim County Council Launches "Most Definitely Leitrim" Campaign to Attract Urban Relocations

Leitrim County Council has launched a three-month social media campaign, «Most Definitely Leitrim», to attract urban dwellers to relocate to the northwest county. It showcases success stories of remote workers and property restorers, while a survey gathers data on remote work experiences to inform future development. The initiative aims to offer a better quality of life and stronger community connections.

Leitrim County Council has initiated a three-month social media campaign, «Most Definitely Leitrim», aimed at encouraging urban residents, both domestically and internationally, to consider relocating to the northwest county.

The campaign will feature personal narratives from individuals and families who have successfully moved to Leitrim from various parts of Ireland and beyond. It will specifically highlight remote workers and those who have revitalized vacant and derelict properties utilizing schemes such as Croí Cónaithe and the Vacant Above the Shop Grant. Testimonials include a former Dublin-based Marketing Manager who established a jewellery business in Rooskey, a linguist serving clients like the European Parliament, and couples who have restored historic farmhouses.

In conjunction with this initiative, Leitrim County Council is also conducting a survey to assess the experience of remote and flexible working within the county. The local authority seeks input from current remote workers in Leitrim, hybrid commuters, and professionals located elsewhere who are open to relocation. This research will investigate broadband connectivity, childcare accessibility, housing options, co-working facilities, and community support systems. The findings are anticipated to guide future investment and policy decisions for the county.

Councillor Paddy Farrell, Cathaoirleach of the Council, stated that the campaign aims to present opportunities for individuals seeking an improved work-life balance, enhanced community engagement, and a superior quality of life. He emphasized, «The campaign highlights not only the growing potential of remote working in Leitrim, but also the positive impact schemes like Croí Cónaithe are having in helping people restore homes, settle in communities and build a future here.» A dedicated webpage has been established by Leitrim County Council to provide comprehensive information for prospective residents.
