A €1 billion government fund will finance 82 infrastructure projects, including a road bridge over the N11, a new urban park in Sandyford, and a Naas harbour pedestrian bridge. Administered by the new Housing Activation Office within the Department of Housing, the Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund aims to unlock residential zoned land banks.

Housing Minister James Browne stated many projects are «shovel ready» and awaiting tender. He urged local authorities to collaborate with developers to expedite housing delivery. These approved projects are expected to enable 86,000 new homes and potentially facilitate an additional 113,000.

Specific projects include a €20 million road bridge and link roads over the N11 from Woodbrook/Shankill to Old Connaught, a €10 million Sandford Civic Park, a link road from Ballyfermot Road to Park West, and a public park at Kiltiernan. The Housing Activation Office will partner with local authorities, Uisce Eireann, and the ESB to drive these initiatives, ensuring public investment maximizes housing delivery nationwide.
