Canadian technology firm OpenText has announced a €105 million investment aimed at creating 400 new jobs across its Cork and Galway facilities over the next three years. The company specializes in data management and cybersecurity products.

This investment will double OpenText’s existing commitment in Ireland and significantly enhance its capabilities in agentic AI, cybersecurity, sovereign cloud, and digital operations. These expanded services will cater to markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

IDA Ireland has recognized this as the largest single investment in Ireland by a Canadian-headquartered technology company, highlighting a significant advancement in Canada-Ireland technological and economic collaboration. The announcement coincides with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to Ireland this weekend.

Shannon Bell, Chief Digital Officer and Chief Information Officer at OpenText, stated, «Organizations across Europe are seeking trusted partners to securely deploy AI, govern it responsibly, and operate confidently within increasingly complex digital environments.» Ms. Bell added, «This investment expands our EMEA R&D and operations capacity to deliver the trusted AI, cybersecurity, and cloud capabilities our clients already rely on globally, while providing European organizations with greater regional support and flexibility across their chosen cloud environments.»

Taoiseach Micheál Martin lauded the investment as a robust affirmation of the deepening economic partnership between Ireland and Canada. He remarked, «It reflects the strength of our longstanding relationship and will help create new opportunities for innovation, trade, and high-value job creation between our two countries.» Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, emphasized that the investment will bolster Ireland’s leadership in AI and transformational technology. Mr. Lohan particularly welcomed the creation of high-skilled roles in two regional locations, underscoring the widespread availability of talent throughout Ireland.
