Lidl, SuperValu Pork Mince Recalled Over Salmonella Risk; Kepak Products Affected

Lidl and SuperValu have recalled specific batches of Kepak 100% Irish pork mince and fresh pork mince products, with use-by dates of June 16, 2026, due to Salmonella contamination. The FSAI issued a Category 1 alert, urging consumers not to eat the affected products, which can cause severe illness, especially in vulnerable groups.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed the recall of several pork mince products sold at Lidl and SuperValu due to the presence of Salmonella.

This recall specifically targets batches of 100% Irish pork mince and fresh pork mince products supplied by Kepak, all bearing use-by dates of June 16, 2026. Affected items include Lidl Family Pack 100% Irish Pork Mince (800g) and SuperValu Fresh Irish Pork Mince in both 400g and 800g packages.

The FSAI has issued a Category 1 alert, advising retailers to immediately remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices. Consumers are strongly cautioned against consuming these products.

Salmonella infection typically manifests within 12 to 36 hours, causing symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, headache, and abdominal cramps, which can persist for several days. Severe cases may necessitate hospital treatment, particularly for vulnerable populations including the elderly, infants, and individuals with compromised immune systems.
