Swedish Man Dies in Limerick Crash En Route to Feud Murder; Accomplice Sought

A Swedish man died in a three-car crash in Co Limerick while allegedly en route to a feud-related murder. He was found with a loaded pistol and balaclava. His accomplice fled, prompting a Garda manhunt and international police cooperation.

Gardaí believe two Swedish men were en route to commit a feud-related murder in Munster when they caused a fatal three-car crash on the N21 in Co Limerick on Monday night after taking a wrong turn. The deceased, found wearing a balaclava, had a loaded pistol, which was recovered from his vehicle.

The accomplice, who was driving, fled the scene on foot. Gardaí have identified the dead man and believe they know the driver's identity, issuing alerts and checking ports/airports. The men were not involved in Irish feuds but were reportedly contracted by Irish criminals for a shooting.

Investigations, including cooperation with Swedish police, confirm the victim was in Ireland for a gun murder. Ballistics testing is underway on the recovered pistol to determine its use and origin. The remains were taken to University Hospital Limerick for postmortem. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from the N21 between 11 pm and 11:30 pm on Monday.
