Minister Klymenko: Holosiivka Shooter Vasylchenkov Recorded Actions, Conflict Began With Neighbor

Minister Ihor Klymenko revealed details of the April 18 Holosiivka terrorist act. Shooter Dmytro Vasylchenkov recorded his actions, and the conflict began with a neighbor. Questions arose regarding the private clinic that issued his weapons permit.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported that the April 18 terrorist act in Kyiv's Holosiivka district began with a domestic conflict. The shooter, Dmytro Vasylchenkov, who lived on the 5th floor, had a long-standing conflict with his 6th-floor neighbor, whom he called the «director».

After Vasylchenkov's elimination, audio recordings he made during the events were found on his phone. These recordings allowed for a minute-by-minute reconstruction of the incident. The recordings contain fragments of conversations where the neighbor calls him the «director,» which likely irritated Vasylchenkov. The conflict escalated into shooting.

Vasylchenkov initially fired traumatic weapons near the entrance, then returned to his apartment, took a carbine, set his home on fire, and went outside. The Minister also noted that Vasylchenkov obtained a medical certificate for renewing his weapons permit in December 2025 from a private clinic. Questions arose regarding the thoroughness of the examination at this clinic, although the certificate itself is not forged. Documents have been seized, and control over entities issuing such certificates will be strengthened.
