Hadi Alodid, 30, Charged with Attempted Murder, Threats to Kill in North Belfast

Hadi Alodid, 30, has been charged with attempted murder and threats to kill following a June 8 incident in north Belfast. The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered severe injuries, including the loss of an eye. Alodid reportedly admitted to killing someone while in hospital, and police opposed bail due to safety and public disorder concerns.

Hadi Alodid, 30, of Apartment 1, 4 Duncairn Avenue, Belfast, has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in north Belfast. The charges stem from an incident on June 8 in Kinnaird Avenue, where a man in his 40s sustained severe injuries, including the loss of his left eye, serious damage to his right eye, and deep lacerations to his face and back. The victim remains in serious condition in the hospital.

Alodid faces additional charges, including possession of a knife in a public place and making threats to kill. Specifically, he is accused of threatening a female NHS radiographer on June 8, causing her to fear for her life. During his court appearance at Laganside via video link, an Arabic interpreter was utilized, and Alodid declined legal representation.

The court was informed that while receiving treatment for a hand injury after the incident, Alodid reportedly stated, «I killed someone. I don’t know if they’re dead.» The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) opposed bail, citing concerns for Alodid's safety, his potential as a flight risk, and the risk of public disorder.

The judge expressed sympathy for the victim and commended the emergency services and members of the public who assisted the injured man. The judge also addressed social media posts encouraging individuals to wear dark clothing and block roads, warning that anyone participating in such activities could face legal action.
