Ireland Invests €460 Million in Seven New Research Centres, Creating 577 Jobs

Ireland is investing €460 million in seven new 'Rinn' research centres focusing on key technologies like AI and semiconductors. This initiative will create 577 jobs, develop 800+ PhDs, and attract €500 million in industry funding, boosting Ireland's research and innovation landscape.

The Irish Government has announced a €460 million investment in seven new research centres, operating under a national network called 'Rinn'. These centres will focus on AI, semiconductors, energy, medical devices, advanced therapies, pharma and biopharma, and quantum computing.

The initiative, announced by Minister James Lawless, aims to support 577 research positions, develop over 800 PhDs, and involve 17 research-performing organisations. An additional €500 million will be leveraged from over 200 companies, including more than 100 multinational corporations and nearly 100 SMEs. Research Ireland CEO Dr. Diarmuid O'Brien stated the Rinn network will foster multidisciplinary research, collaboration, and connectivity across institutions, industry, and government to enhance Ireland's international competitiveness and innovation ecosystem.
