Europol Identifies Up To 45 Ukrainian Children Abducted By Russia

Europol identified up to 45 Ukrainian children forcibly removed by Russia. This is the result of joint work by experts from 18 countries, aimed at repatriation and gathering evidence of war crimes. This marks an important step in holding those responsible accountable.

Europol has identified up to 45 Ukrainian children forcibly removed by Russia. This occurred as part of an initiative involving the International Criminal Court and experts from 18 countries, including the EU, USA, and Great Britain.

Over two days, experts used open-source intelligence, including data on military units, platforms with photos of the removed children, and information about individuals who hosted them. The goal is to assist Ukrainian authorities in child repatriation and gather evidence of potential war crimes.

This was the third such event. Two years ago, the ICC established the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression (ICPCA) for systematic evidence collection. The number of tracked children represents only a small fraction of the estimated 19,500 Ukrainians deported from occupied territories.
