7,000 Rathwood Customers to Receive «Nominal Sum» Back, Examiner Warns
Approximately 7,000 Rathwood customers will receive only a «nominal sum» for undelivered products, as warned by examiner Padraic Bermingham. Customers must submit claims by June 12th. The CCPC advises immediate action, including chargeback requests, for those affected by the retailer's €18 million liabilities.
Approximately 7,000 Rathwood customers who paid for undelivered products will receive only a «nominal sum» back, according to a letter from examiner Padraic Bermingham of Strata Financial. The letter advises customers to complete an online claim confirmation form by June 12th, detailing their claim, including reference numbers, dates, and amounts paid, and whether they have initiated a chargeback.
Rathwood, run by brothers Thomas and James Keogh, sought examinership in April to restructure its finances. Provisional figures presented to the High Court indicated liabilities of €18 million, including €2.5 million in customer deposits and vouchers. The company was the second most-complained about in Ireland in 2025, with 565 contacts to the CCPC helplines, up from 24 a year prior. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has urged affected consumers to act immediately, review the examiner's correspondence, complete the form, and contact their bank or card provider for chargebacks.
