Staff were notified last Thursday, with one describing the announcement as a «devastating shock.» Concerns were raised about the impact on patients, local healthcare provision, and community employment.
A spokesperson for Kingsbridge Healthcare Group stated the company is committed to retraining staff for roles within the upgraded facility. The hospital, which currently has 19 inpatient rooms, will shift to an ambulatory service focusing on outpatient consultations and day-case surgeries, following a strategic review and investment in a new service model.
