Moldovan MFA: Drone that fell in Orhei district «highly likely» Ukrainian, Russia responsible

Moldova's MFA stated that a drone that fell in the Orhei district is «highly likely» Ukrainian, but places responsibility for the incident on Russia. Moldova expressed solidarity with Ukraine and plans to produce interceptor drones to protect its airspace.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova stated that the drone which fell on the country's territory last night is «highly likely» Ukrainian. At the same time, the ministry emphasized that responsibility for the incident lies with the Russian Federation, which unleashed the war against Ukraine.

According to «European Pravda» citing Newsmaker, Moldova's foreign policy agency is in constant contact with Ukrainian authorities regarding the drone that exploded in the Orhei district. Preliminary data indicate that the drone is most likely of Ukrainian origin.

«Regardless of the drone's origin, responsibility for any drone that enters the territory of the Republic of Moldova rests with Russia, which started an illegal war in the neighboring country,» the Moldovan MFA stressed, expressing solidarity with Ukraine. It should be noted that earlier, Ukrainian MFA head Andrii Sybiha stated that the drone was Russian.

Moldova plans to prepare legislative changes to establish the production of interceptor drones to protect its airspace. Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu stated the country's desire to acquire technologies to combat such UAVs before they cause tragedies or destruction.
