Zelenskyy on June 7 Russian Strike on Nuclear Fuel Storage: Exceeding Outrageous Audacity

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the June 7 Russian strike on the Centralized Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility near ChNPP, calling it an «exceedance of outrageous audacity». He highlighted the critical nature of the facility and urged the world to increase pressure on Russia. Radiation levels remain normal.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the Russian strike on one of the buildings of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (CSNFSF) near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which occurred on the night of June 7.

The head of state emphasized that it was an «object of extremely critical infrastructure» and an «extremely vile Russian strike». According to Zelenskyy, Russia deliberately attacked this particular nuclear infrastructure facility. As of now, no exceedance of radiation background norms has been recorded, but «there is definitely an exceedance of even the long-since outrageous Russian audacity». Ukrainian rescuers promptly extinguished the fire at the facility after the strike. The President stressed the need for new steps by the international community so that Russia «feels that such their terrorist war is a strike against Russia itself».

Zelenskyy also informed that during the night on Sunday, civilian objects in 13 regions of Ukraine were attacked. In total, according to his data, during the week Russia launched 88 missiles, over 3250 attack drones, and about 1800 guided aerial bombs (KABs) against Ukraine. The President emphasized the need to increase pressure on Russia and thanked everyone who provides assistance.
