Joshua Brodericks Charged in Dublin Fatal Stabbing Case, Granted Bail
Joshua Brodericks, 25, faces charges of violent disorder and assault related to events preceding Qayyum Balogun's fatal stabbing in Dublin. He allegedly led a group that pursued Balogun, who was then attacked by six men. Brodericks was granted bail under strict conditions, despite the serious charges.
Joshua Brodericks, 25, from Gleann Dara, Rahoon, Galway, has been charged with four counts of violent disorder and assault causing harm to a man and a woman in connection with events leading to the fatal stabbing of Qayyum Balogun in Dublin. Brodericks is not accused of attacking Mr. Balogun directly.
The Dublin District Court heard that Brodericks allegedly led a «14-man pack» that pursued Mr. Balogun and his friends after an incident at a night party. Mr. Balogun slipped on Clarendon Street and was attacked by six men, who held, assaulted, and stabbed him. He collapsed and died. Brodericks allegedly disposed of knives used in the attack and later instigated another violent incident, punching a woman in the face.
Judge Peter White granted Brodericks bail on strict conditions, including a €1000 bond, daily sign-on at a Galway garda station, passport surrender, and 24-hour phone availability. The judge noted Brodericks is presumed innocent and not charged with offenses specifically against Mr. Balogun. Brodericks is due back in court next Friday.
