The Port of Constanta in Romania was urgently evacuated on Friday morning, May 29, following the explosion of a naval drone near berths No. 77-78. Authorities activated a «red» response plan, evacuated the port, and advised local residents to seek shelter.

According to Digi24, the drone became stuck in a pollution protection dam, several hundred meters from the oil terminal. Preliminary information indicates no casualties from the explosion. The publication claims the drone was Ukrainian, carried tens of kilograms of explosives, and its detonation was uncontrolled. The circumstances of the drone's entry into the Romanian port remain unknown.

President Nicușor Dan was informed of the incident aboard a Spartan aircraft en route to Montenegro for the EU-Western Balkans summit. Acting Prime Minister Ilie Boložan was also notified of the situation and plans to visit the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed the explosion of an unknown naval drone in Constanta port on Friday, noting that such types of drones are used in the war in Ukraine.

This incident occurred after a Russian attack drone crashed into the roof of a residential high-rise building in Galați, Romania, on the night of May 29, exploding, breaching the roof, and causing a fire in the hallway of a top-floor apartment. Two residents were injured in that incident. This case is considered the most serious incident involving Russian attack drones on Romanian territory.
