EU Ambassadors to Finally Approve €90 Billion for Ukraine on April 22
EU ambassadors will consider the final approval of a €90 billion loan for Ukraine on April 22. This item is on the Coreper II agenda as not requiring discussion. The decision, previously blocked by Hungary, will provide significant financial support to Ukraine.
EU ambassadors will attempt to finally approve a €90 billion loan for Ukraine on April 22. The issue of amending the EU's long-term budget for 2021-2027, which will enable this loan, has been included on the agenda of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper II) meeting on Wednesday, April 22.
The Cypriot Presidency of the EU informed «European Pravda» that the amendment to the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) regulation was included as an item not requiring discussion. Following Coreper's approval, a written procedure will be initiated for the final adoption of changes to the EU budget, which could take up to 24 hours.
Previously, Hungary blocked the approval of these initiatives. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán linked this to the halt in transit of Russian oil via the «Druzhba» pipeline. However, future Prime Minister Péter Magyar indicated that he would not block the loan, although Budapest would not participate in it.
