Zelenskyy on June 4 Proposed Meeting Putin to End War, But Not in Moscow
On June 4, Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to Vladimir Putin to meet to end the war, but not in Moscow. Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, prisoner exchange, and return of children. Zelenskyy warned of consequences if Putin does not end the war.
On June 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an open letter, proposed to Vladimir Putin to set a date and meet to end the war. He emphasized that an Ukrainian leader has nothing to do in Moscow, just as a Russian leader has nothing to do in Kyiv, after 26 years. Zelenskyy suggested meeting locations such as Switzerland, Turkey, or Arab countries, noting that many are able and willing to host this meeting.
Ukraine is ready for a complete ceasefire during negotiations, which is standard practice. The United States can ensure monitoring of the ceasefire. Ukraine is also ready for an “all for all” prisoner exchange and the return of civilians and children. Zelenskyy stressed that if Putin does not decide to end the war, Ukraine will continue to fight, and he will have to fight for his personal existence, referring to facts of Russian history about changes when Russia gets tired.
