EU ambassadors are urgently discussing the opening of Cluster №1 «Fundamentals» for Ukraine and Moldova on the evening of June 3. This follows successful negotiations between Ukraine and Hungary. The discussion covers screening results and Ukraine's fulfillment of initial criteria.
European Union ambassadors are urgently discussing the opening of the first cluster, «Fundamentals,» for Ukraine and Moldova on the evening of June 3. This item was added to the agenda of the evening meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) under an expedited procedure.
According to diplomatic sources, EU ambassadors will discuss the initiation of the procedure for opening Cluster 1 «Fundamentals» in the context of Ukraine's and Moldova's accession negotiations with the European Union. This became possible due to successful negotiations between the technical teams of Ukraine and Hungary, which the Hungarian side has already communicated to the EU Council.
The meeting will discuss the results of the screening for Cluster 1 «Fundamentals,» and, if the discussion is successful, the results of Ukraine's fulfillment of the opening benchmarks for this cluster. Ukraine and Moldova hope for the opening of the first clusters in June, with an Intergovernmental Conference potentially taking place on June 15 or 16. Currently, only the opening of the first cluster «Fundamentals» is being considered, although Ukraine calls for all clusters to be opened in June.
