A new pilot program in Ireland, a collaboration between CIPD and Tosú, will support individuals with criminal convictions in the workplace. HR professionals will mentor clients into employment, leveraging the CIPD Trust's mission to enhance diversity and inclusion. This initiative aims to provide stability and career advancement for Tosú clients.
A new pilot program has been launched in Ireland to assist individuals with criminal convictions in achieving workplace success. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional body for the HR industry, and Tosú, an organization dedicated to helping people with convictions establish new beginnings and stable futures.
The program involves HR professionals volunteering to mentor Tosú clients who have convictions, guiding them into employment and supporting their integration into the workplace. Initially, the pilot will focus on individuals with minor convictions. The CIPD has issued a call for HR professionals to participate and volunteer their time.
This partnership marks the initial expansion of the CIPD Trust into Ireland. The Trust, which serves as the charitable arm of the HR body, was first established in the UK in 2022 with the aim of broadening social impact and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
Sally Eley, Head of the CIPD Trust, emphasized the unique position of HR professionals to assist vulnerable groups in navigating the crucial initial months of employment and improving their prospects for success. She noted the positive outcomes observed in the UK and expressed enthusiasm for the program's launch in Ireland. Jacob Harmon, Operations Manager for Community-based Services at Tosú, conveyed his organization's eagerness to collaborate with CIPD, stating that meaningful employment and career advancement are fundamental to their clients' stability. He added that the partnership will bring valuable HR expertise to their network and provide essential support to their clients.
