On Monday, June 1, 2026, a tornado struck the village of Balcarzowice in the Strzelce County of Poland's Opole Voivodeship, damaging 18 buildings, 11 of which were residential homes. This information was reported by «European Pravda», citing RMF24.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management confirmed that the tornado caused significant damage to buildings and trees. Experts from the Institute noted that the recorded damage in the Opole region indicates «the impact of a strong rotating updraft associated with a thunderstorm».

According to the fire service, 18 buildings were damaged in Balcarzowice, with 11 being residential. There were no casualties or injuries. Hubert Ibrom, the mayor of Ujazd commune, described the scene as «a picture resembling a post-apocalypse». He highlighted «several minutes of terror and the heroic struggle of volunteers, professional firefighters, police, residents of nearby settlements, and representatives of various NGOs». The operation to secure property continued until late at night.

Last summer, in August, a tornado passed through the Gniezno area, overturning at least several cars. In October 2025, a tornado near Paris resulted in one fatality.
