US Defense Secretary Pete Hegset: United States Will Find Way to Provide Aid to Ukraine

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegset announced in Singapore that the United States will find a way to provide aid to Ukraine. This statement came in response to President Zelenskyy's letter about air defense shortages. Hegset also noted increased support from European allies.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset stated that the United States will find a way to provide support to Ukraine in defending against Russian threats. He made this announcement on the sidelines of the Asian Security Summit in Singapore, as reported by «European Pravda».

Journalists questioned the Pentagon chief about a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy concerning the shortage of air defense assets amid intensified Russian attacks. In response, Hegset noted that the US is seeking opportunities to help Ukraine wherever possible. He emphasized: «We are changing the way we produce all these types of important ammunition to ensure that our companies supply not just a little more, but much more across the entire spectrum. Where we can help Ukraine – we do it, where we can enable Europe to do more – we do it».

Hegset also highlighted the activity of European allies who have increased their support for Ukraine. He underscored: «I am inspired by the European commitment. If you look at the amount of money spent, Europe has stepped up, and Ukraine has been no less, if not more, effective in this process. So we want them to be able to defend themselves, and we will find a way to provide them with assistance».

Previously, in a letter to US President Donald Trump and congressmen, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine «relies almost exclusively on the US» for protection against Russian ballistic missiles. He also informed that during a massive attack on May 24, Russia used two «Oreshnik» medium-range ballistic missiles. Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal has already stated that the US will respond to the Ukrainian President's letter regarding the deficit of air defense assets.
