Enniscrone Retirement Village Residents Get Six-Month Eviction Reprieve from Nasso BK Holdings
Residents in Enniscrone, Co Sligo's retirement village received a six-month eviction reprieve from Nasso BK Holdings Ltd, extending their stay until December. The company, owning most of the 27 homes, cited winding down operations and ongoing engagement efforts. Residents, aged 50s-80s, fear finding suitable alternative housing in the area.
Residents of a retirement village in Enniscrone, Co Sligo, facing eviction, have received a six-month reprieve from Nasso BK Holdings Ltd, the Athlone-based company owning most of the properties. Originally due to be evicted next week, they were informed on Friday they now have an additional half-year before they must vacate.
Nasso BK Holdings stated it recognizes the «uncertainty and distress» caused and has extended the notice period to allow further engagement. The affected households are part of an estate of 27 houses for independent living, previously owned by Sonas and rented privately. Ownership of the nursing home and surrounding houses changed earlier this year; Ethos Care now owns the nursing home, while Nasso BK Holdings owns most of the 27 homes.
The company explained the decision to sell properties is part of winding down the company that previously owned them, following the sale of the adjoining Sonas Nursing Home. Efforts to find solutions with Sligo County Council, Approved Housing Bodies, and local politicians to allow residents to remain long-term were unsuccessful, but the owners remain open to engagement.
Residents, aged 50s to 80s, fear difficulty finding new suitable housing in the area, describing it as «impossible» to date. Patricia Hogan, a resident, urged the council to purchase the houses or provide permanent, suitable housing, especially for disabled and elderly individuals. Several households received notices to quit last November, with six remaining despite an eviction order to move out by June 5.
