CCPC Recalls 6,206 Toshiba, Technika, Walker TVs Over Fire Risk
The CCPC has recalled 6,206 Toshiba, Technika, and Walker televisions sold between October 2025 and April due to a fire safety risk. The issue stems from a faulty fuse in the power plugs, which may fail to disconnect power during an electrical fault, potentially causing overheating or fire. Consumers should stop using the TVs and contact Glen Dimplex for a free replacement fuse or cable.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued a recall for over 6,000 televisions due to a significant fire safety risk. A total of 6,206 Toshiba, Technika, and Walker brand televisions, sold between October 2025 and April of this year, are affected by the recall.
The CCPC identified a safety issue with the fuse located within certain power plugs supplied with these television sets. According to the commission, «The product presents a fire risk because the fuse inside the supplied UK power plug may not operate correctly.» This malfunction could lead to serious hazards.
Elaborating on the risk, the CCPC stated, «If an electrical fault occurs, the fuse may fail to disconnect the power supply, allowing electricity to continue flowing into the TV, which could lead to overheating or fire.» It is important to note that this product safety issue pertains specifically to the mains plug fuse and not to the television unit itself.
Customers are strongly advised to immediately cease using the affected televisions, switch them off, and unplug them from the mains power supply. For a free replacement fuse or power cable, consumers can contact the electrical goods firm Glen Dimplex at (01) 842 8222 or via email at serviceireland@glendimplex.com.
